What is ATSAC ?


ATSAC the Association for therapy sexual compulsivity /sexual addiction is a not-for-profit organisation that provides information and support on sexual compulsivity/ addiction.

Out of control sexual behaviour is a current concern for many people sometimes called a sexual compulsion or sexual addiction. ATSAC is committed to providing hope, information, and therapy options to and those who love them.


Our Values, Mission and Vision

ATSAC Values

Inclusivity – we don’t tell people how to live their lives; we are tolerant and embrace diversity in all its forms especially in the area of human sexuality and sexual expression.

Care – when somebody reaches out to the organisation, either from within or from outside, we respond as quickly and helpfully as we can.

Equality – we will not tolerate racism and will work to promote diversity and inclusion. We will treat all people fairly and with equality.

Responsibility – each ATSAC member recognises their own part in collectively delivering ATSAC’s Mission.

Striving – we set the highest standards in everything we say and do. Reflecting and promoting the latest thinking in out of control sexual  behaviour and the impact on  the individual and the people they are in relationship with.


ATSAC Mission Statement

ATSAC educates the public, professionals and governments, raising awareness about out of control sexual behaviour sexual compulsivity, and the challenges faced by those who are affected their families and their intimate relationships. It sets standards and provides support to members and others to help those whose lives are affected by  out of control sexual behaviour.


ATSAC Vision

ATSAC is the leading UK organisation for the provision of education, support and resources for those working with, interested in, or affected by out of control sexual behaviour and sexual compulsivity. We are seen as experts in our field, always actively translating our knowledge and expertise in a way that is helpful to the general public, media and practitioners alike.

The Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC) is committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all members, clients, colleagues and stakeholders. We affirm the fundamental dignity, worth and equality of every individual and do not tolerate discrimination in any form.

ATSAC does not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief (including philosophical beliefs), neurodiversity, socio-economic background, or any other protected characteristic as recognised under UK law.

We expect all ATSAC members and affiliated practitioners to uphold these principles in their professional conduct, clinical practice, communications, service provision and organisational interactions. All individuals must be treated with fairness, compassion and respect, and services should be accessible and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.

Any behaviour, practice or policy that discriminates, harasses, marginalises or excludes individuals or groups is contrary to ATSAC values and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of membership.

ATSAC is committed to continuous learning, reflective practice and improvement. We strive to promote equity within the therapy profession and in the support of clients affected by sexual addiction and compulsive sexual behaviours. We encourage members to challenge discrimination when it arises, and to seek guidance when needed to ensure that clinical and organisational practice aligns with this statement.
